Annotation

The Stela II./3 is a glass stele made by fusing glass in a mould by means of the unique Vitrucell technology. The structure of striking proportions is made by smelting special, chemically prepared glass components. The stele is planted in a metal pedestal, creating a single unit with the glass.

Bio

Until the 1990s, all the fused sculptures and site-specific works for architecture of the iconic duo Libenský-Brychtová were being made in the Pelechov studio near Železný Brod. Zdeněk Lhotský (* 1956), sculptor, world-renowned master glassworker, innovator and founder of Lhotský studio, took over the glassworks in 1994. Today, it produces technically challenging projects for world-renowned artists such as Marc Newson, Faye Toogood, Howard Ben Tré, Judy Chicago, Geoffrey Mann, Karen LaMonte and others. Lhotský is an experimenter and innovator of technologies and novel forming processes. He has innovated kilns and continues to challenge the limits of the formal and structural complexity of glass objects. The unique Vitrucell technology is an outcome of this drive to innovation, as is the “EX Glass,” perfect for exterior use.
