Annotation

The simple shape of the glass cube provides the perfect backdrop for various structures formed by the chemical staining of glass. The work is made by means of the Vitrucell technology, and great emphasis is placed on the structure and color scheme, and not so much on the shape. This creates simple, elementary formations with many vedettes which change based on the perspective and on the light conditions.

Bio

Until the 1990s, all the fused sculptures and site-specific works for architecture of the iconic duo Libenský-Brychtová were being made in the Pelechov studio near Železný Brod. Zdeněk Lhotský (* 1956), sculptor, world-renowned master glassworker, innovator and founder of Lhotský studio, took over the glassworks in 1994. Today, it produces technically challenging projects for world-renowned artists such as Marc Newson, Faye Toogood, Howard Ben Tré, Judy Chicago, Geoffrey Mann, Karen LaMonte and others. Lhotský is an experimenter and innovator of technologies and novel forming processes. He has innovated kilns and continues to challenge the limits of the formal and structural complexity of glass objects. The unique Vitrucell technology is an outcome of this drive to innovation, as is the “EX Glass,” perfect for exterior use.
